Effect of UV-B radiation on photosynthetic pigments and UV-absorbing compounds of three different soybean cultivars (Glycine max L.).

چکیده مقاله:
The effects of UV-B radiation on the amount of chlorophyll a, b, carotenoids, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and polyphenols of three soybean cultivars was studied. After germination in the incubator, plants were put in pots of soil and during 3 weeks and irrigated with Hoagland solution every day. After 3 weeks, plants were exposed to UV-B for 20 min every day for a week. In each cultivar, UV-B reduced chlorophyll a, b, and carotenoids and increased anthocyanins, flavonoids, and polyphenols. The reduction of chlorophyll a and b content was significant between two cultivars Williames, Linfored and L17, Linfored. Carotenoids content showed significant decrease between cultivars Linfored, Williames and Linfored, L17. The anthocyanin and flavonoid contents were affected by UV-B and there was a significant difference in the increase between Williames and L17 and also between L17 and Linfored cultivars. Also increase in phenol content was significantly different between Williames and L17 and also between Williames and Linfored cultivars.

Analysis of Photosynthetic Characteristics and UV-B Absorbing Compounds in Mung Bean Using UV-B and Red LED Radiation
Mung bean has been reported to have antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor activities. Various factors have important effects on the types and contents of plant chemical components. In order to study quality of mung bean from different light sources, mung bean seedlings were exposed to red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and ultraviolet-B (UV-B). Changes in the growth paramete...

Effects of UV B and UV C radiation on viability, growth, and major natural compounds of Malve neglecta L. cells . Faezeh Ghanati*, Faezeh Khatami, and Ebrahim Bemani
Callus cultures were established in vitro from leaf explants of Malva neglecta and were sub-cultured several times until a rapid-growing cell line was obtained. The calluses were exposed to different doses of ultraviolet (UV) radiation as follows: 0, 432, 864, and 1296 J/m2 for UV B and 0, 612, 1284, and 1836 J/m2 for UV C, corresponding to 0, 30, 60, and 90 min radiations, in tandem. Exposure ...
متن کاملTemporal Variation in Photosynthetic Pigments and UV-Absorbing Compounds in Shallow Populations of Two Hawaiian Reef Corals
As we seek to understand the physiological mechanisms of coral bleaching, it is important to understand the background temporal variation in photosynthetic pigments and photoprotective compounds that corals exhibit. In this study, reef flat populations of two hermatypic coral species, Montipora capitata (Dana, 1846) and Porites compressa Dana, 1846, were sampled monthly in Kāne‘ohe Bay, Hawai‘i...
متن کاملEffect of glycine betaine and salinity on photosynthetic pigments and ion concentration of safflower
The influence of exogenous application of glycine betaine (GlyBet) was examined on photosynthetic pigments and ions concentration of safflower under salinity stress conditions. The experiment was performed in a randomized complete block design arranged as a factorial with three replications. Salinity treatments (0, 50, 100, and 150 mM) were applied using sodium chloride (NaCl). GlyBet (0, 10, 3...
